Superintendent Rob Stein: August 2017
What's in Store for the 2017-18 School Year
While most of you are still enjoying your summer, and the first day of school is a month away, we want you to have everything you need to know about starting school this year.
We are always excited as we anticipate the new possibilities and learning opportunities as we look forward to a new year. This year, we will continue our work to fulfill our mission of ensuring that every student develops the knowledge, skills, and character to thrive in a changing world. Educators in all of our schools will be focusing especially on increasing students’ engagement and sense of belonging. All students will be members of a crew, and high school seniors will be completing capstone projects. In order to ensure the safety of your children, you may notice new school security protocols when you visit your child’s school this year.
Thanks to generous taxpayer support, we have been able to build and enhance our learning spaces throughout the district, including opening the new Riverview School in Glenwood Springs. While construction will continue into the fall in many buildings (and into 2018 at Glenwood Springs Elementary School), we are excited for our students, staff, and community members to take advantage of these spaces in the coming months! We thank you for your continued patience as these projects wrap up and as we work through the Glenwood Springs Bridge closure this fall. This construction--on our campuses and off--will produce incredible benefits to us all, but might be frustrating in the short term.
Thank you for entrusting your students to our schools. The Roaring Fork Schools are amazing places to learn and work because of our incredible students, staff, and community members. We look forward to every one of your students returning to class on Tuesday, September 5 for what is sure to be a fantastic school year.
All the best,
